Sibadan Fish & Turtle Cage, Surigao del Sur

Third Stop:

Our third stop involves a fish farm with a “huge” aquarium where they catch and place small fishes in it. When their fish give birth, their fry can actually get out of the “aquarium nets” and out to “the real world” since their holes are big. I give a thumbs up to this give and take process!

Sibadan means “eating place” and “fish” thus the name of this house slash huge aquarium in the middle of the sea. Just a few minutes from Enchanted River, Sibadan Fish Cage is a popular stopover for visitors in the area. Situated in the middle of the sea, pumpboats are hired to reach this place where you can catch, cook and eat fresh seafood. Several kinds of fish (all sizes) and other seafood (like crabs and lobsters) are found here. You may opt to buy fresh fish and have it cooked or you can try fishing yourself for P200/ kilo. Sibadan also offers rooms for those who would like to stay for the night.

A Cave at Surigao del Sur (An Untitled One)

I actually do not know the name of this cave. Since the trip happened almost a year ago already, the memory of such name may have already been buried deep into my subconscious. I’ve also tried asking Google for it but found nothing. All the caves that I’m seeing, the images whenever I searched “Surigao Caves” are not the same with the one that we went to.

But anyway, all I have with me are these pictures and the memories that lingers with them.

Vanishing Island at Surigao del Sur

While on the Enchanted River, one could also visit the Vanishing Island by renting a pump boat. The boat ride usually costs 160-200php for one hour. And the tour includes a visit to the Vanishing Island (Banising as mentioned by the bangkero), HInatuan Cave, Sibadan Fish Cage (‘Piskids’ as what kuya bangkero said), and the Tinago River.

Surigao also has its own version of a vanishing island, and though it’s quite small but it’s one of my favorites. I just love the bluish green and turquoise crystal clear water, the powdery sand, and the perfectly shaped clouds that floats from afar the time that we got there.  It just so happened that during our visit the weather was calm. Thank you Lord.

Crystal Clear Enchanted River, HInatuan, Surigao del Sur

The Arrival

Enchanted River opens at 6:00 and the entrance fee is only P10.00 because it is operated by the local government. Visitors are allowed to bring foods and drinks but if you want to eat fresh sea foods, you can request people in the area to grill fish. Inside the area, there are several cottages ready for visitors.

Enchanting Smiles for an Enchanting River

Enchanting Enchanted Day

Hinatuan is one of the two municipalities in Surigao del sur, aside from San Miguel, that situated in the most secluded part of the province, almost located in the middle of the rainforest of Surigao del sur. Aside from its location, the road leading to Enchanted River is very rough, however despite the long and exhausting journey, both on wheels and on foot, the view when we arrived painted smiles on our faces. It was very much worth it.

Maybe THIS Is Why That Person Gets Under Your Skin! And Why That’s Bad For You!

by MASTIN KIPP

Relationships – they come, they go – some stick with us for a whole lifetime – others are around for just a lesson in time. Same thing goes for partnerships, too. And many times, we miss the message of the relationship or partnership and continue to create the same thing over and over again with new people.

And we end up asking the same ole question, “Why did this happen to me – AGAIN!?”

Well, finding out the answer that question isn’t as easy as one blog post on The Daily Love. But, I did want to share with you a very interesting insight that might take some of the resentment out of your current relationships and, perhaps, shine a light on previous ones. Continue reading

Family Budget Tour at Cebu and Bohol

Here’s a somewhat long overdue post since the escapade happened months ago (October 2011). However, this doesn’t keep me from posting what I considered as a memorable event to me. 😉

The Plan

Cebu Pacific’s Zero Fare

I’ve never been a frequent flyer (much more bring my family along) not until last year when I spotted Cebu Pacific’s Zero Fare and booked a flight from Gensan to Cebu. It’s actually my first promo fare booking with them (and ever since had already been a habit for my monthly destination adventures). Being able to confirm our booked flights, we’re good to go and invade Cebu and Bohol from October 22-25, 2011 (Oct. 25 was also my mother’s birthday. Yay!).

DIY Itinerary Cebu-Bohol Tour

Chocolate Hills in Bohol

I’m naturally a budget friendly person, (kuripot in tagalog, may be due to my Ilocano roots). So I opted to prepare a DIY tour for our family than avail of expensive tour packages. Months before the trip, I’ve already planned out our itineraries and the possible hotels where we could stay. Below is the list of the resources that had been handy to me. Hopefully it’ll also help you if you’re planning to have one. Continue reading

Right at the heart of the city and in close proximity to the major points of commerce and recreation is the 40-storey Crown Regency Hotel & Towers (Tower 1), the tallest building in Metro Cebu.  Right at the back of it is Club Ultima (Tower 2), which hosts the executive suites, dining and recreation facilities. On the rise beside Club Ultima is Ultima Residences (Tower 3), which will soon host a mall, loft-type residences, one-stop diagnostic center, private offices and other new amenities. Adventuroj in Taoist Temple (Cebu City)

Taoist Temple

One of the most popular tourist spots in Cebu City aside from Magellan’s Cross is the Taoist Temple located in the posh Beverly Hills Subdivision way up on the hills of the Queen City of the South. This Taoist place of worship was constructed in 1972 by Cebu’s prominent Chinoy community. This is supposedly the biggest Taoist temple in the Philippines.

Here one will surely enjoy the picturesque and magnificent views of the city and Mactan Island (being located 300 meters above sea level).

Mactan: Sutukil, Lapu-Lapu Shrine and Mactan Monument

Upon arrival at Cebu International  Airport, we immediately headed out to have lunch at Mactan Seafoods Restaurant with their popular sutukil and yummy seafood cook to perfection. With a plan to head out to the Lapu-lapu Monument and Mactan Shrine afterwards.

Sutukil: Fresh seafood by the seas of Mactan island

Mactan Sutukil Restaurant

When you’re in or anywhere near Lapu-Lapu City in Mactan Island, you have to try sutukil. Sutukil is a portmanteau of the three ways fish are cooked in eateries near the Mactan Shrine: Su is for sugba or grilled, tu is for tula or prepared into a soup and kil is for kilaw or turned into a raw fish salad.

Yummy Seafoods

Sutukil restaurants let you choose whatever you want cooked from stalls of fresh fish, prawns, crabs, seaweeds, shells, clams and even lobsters. These seafood are as fresh as seafood can be and the crabs and lobsters on display are still alive as you pick which ones you want cooked. Sutukil eateries get their daily supply of fresh seafood from fishers in nearby islets. Continue reading
